Installation Week in the hill country
There is a particular energy that comes with installation week. After months (sometimes years) of planning and refinement, the home finally begins to take shape in a tangible way. Furniture is placed, lighting is adjusted, art is installed, and every layer starts working together exactly as intended. It is the moment when the vision shifts from concept to reality.
Earlier this May, our team traveled to a special piece of property in the hill country. About an hour outside of Austin, a week-long installation marked the final chapter of an extensive design journey. Each day began early and ended late as we prepared the home for reveal, carefully refining every space.
Installation weeks require creativity, precision, and adaptability. Throughout the week, our team moved continuously between styling, furniture placement, assembly, and final adjustments to ensure every room felt complete and cohesive. No detail was overlooked, from the balance of materials within a space to the way each room would feel once lived in.
Of course, alongside the long days came the moments that make installation weeks memorable. What started as a “quick” sourcing trip into Austin turned into multiple visits to the same store because there was always one more detail needed. In the evenings, the house filled with laughter as stories were shared and the team finally had a moment to unwind together. On the final night, a simple game sparked a funny realization about the different ways creative and procurement minds naturally think and organize — one of those small but memorable moments that reflected the unique strengths each person brought to the project.
By the end of the week, every layer had fallen into place. As always, the most meaningful moment came on reveal day.
Watching our client walk through her completed home for the first time reminded us why we care so deeply about this process. Seeing her settle into the spaces with ease, excitement, and relief made every long day worthwhile.
