We believe in MannKind.
We actively give back to the arts, education, and our local community.
We believe that the more we know, the more we grow and the better we all become. Collectively, we can make a difference. 💛
Project feature: NEW ORLEANS River House
Timeworn finishes and vintage staircases give the home its character. The craftsmanship is subtle but present.
THE HOPE PROJECT
We are proud to support The Hope Project, an initiative of Hope Stone, bringing transformative arts education — music, dance, theater, and mindfulness — to students in Houston’s Second Ward.
Project feature: London Inspiration
This Houston home takes a cue from London’s timeless architecture and interiors. Moody color choices, intricate patterns, and luxurious textiles create a classic look.
Studies of Yellow: Ochre
Before indigo or crimson, there was ochre. It was the first paint color used by humans, ground from earth and brushed onto cave walls. Thousands of years later, it remains in every artist’s palette, still speaking the language of soil and sun.
Project feature: New Orleans Home
A New Orleans home with historic bones, bold color, and contemporary art. The house reflects the city itself — layered and full of soul.
Project feature: windy hill ranch
This ranch interior balances rugged materials with luxurious comfort. Designed for gathering, the home embraces contrast — industrial and organic, tailored and relaxed.
One objet: Yigal ozeri’s oil painting
We recently placed Yigal Ozeri’s fantastic oil painting in our client’s dining room. As soon as we hung her on the wall, she was an instant fit with the space’s color palette and feel.
Studies of yellow: MARIGOLD
Marigold works best when it feels found rather than forced. Designers love it for its versatility: grounded enough to pair with natural oak and travertine, yet bold enough to enliven a neutral interior.
Studies of yellow: Chartreuse
Somewhere between green and yellow, chartreuse is equal parts electric and natural, modern and timeless. It feels bold and innovative.
Studies of yellow: déjà vu
I was just in New Orleans art-hunting for client projects and am always enthralled by Jose-Maria Cundin’s work (his recent exhibition Déjà Vu at Callan Contemporary was exceptionally good). I come back to his work often as his use of color and form are serious mood elevators.
ONE OBJET: VIPP’S SWIVEL CHAIR
This office chair is a beautiful balance of subtle minimalism with a touch of nostalgia. We are in the middle of an office re-design and may have to order a few for ourselves!
THE HOPE PROJECT
We are proud to support The Hope Project, an initiative of Hope Stone, bringing transformative arts education—music, dance, theater, and mindfulness—to students in Houston’s Second Ward.
STUDIES OF YELLOW: EARTH DAY
Shannon spotted this bright yellow Guayacán tree while traveling in Panama this month. A burst of joy against the gray sky and plain concrete wall. Our ultimate design inspiration (always) is nature.
ONE OBJET: BOSSA TABLE
Introducing One Objet—our new series celebrating inspiring design. This month, we’re captivated by Bossa Furniture’s sculptural coffee table, crafted from just four ring shapes in bronze or aluminum. A testament to true artisanship, each piece is one of a kind.
STUDIES OF YELLOW
Eye-catching and energetic, a hue that is multifaceted in it’s existence. A beacon of light, a Coldplay song, a joyful feeling…
In color theory, it’s a primary color (next to blue and red) that can evoke happiness and hope.
Pure magic!
Thanks to your support, we’re donating boxes full of yarn to The Magic Yarn Project, bringing joy to the lives of kids facing medical challenges. Learn how to contribute to their wishlist, ELLIO’s toy drive, and our Studio Manager job opening.
woven together
This year, we’re thrilled to partner with The Magic Yarn Project for our year-end MannKind campaign. Each wig is handwoven, embodying our passion for artisanal craftsmanship, and invites children into the world of imagination and play during a difficult time.
DREAM SPACES & DESTINATIONS
JPB’s Summer Institutes bring together youth from around the world to focus on peacebuilding and leadership development, as a commitment to building peaceful and just societies in Israel, Palestine, and the United States.
The science of kindness
Did you know being kind creates an endorphin rush? Lately, we’ve been thinking a lot about who we are as a studio and kindness is at the forefront of our values — along with soulful environments.
A note for you
I have just returned from an incredible journey abroad. I was reminded of the joy and resiliency of life whether it was in nature, architecture, or human interaction. At every turn, my senses were flourishing.
